Highlands and Islands Food & Drink Awards 2018
The Mackenzie Family are over the moon to announce that we have been awarded a Highly Commended Award in the Highlands and Islands Food & Drink Awards!
We were also shortlisted in the Independent Food & Drink Retailer of the Year Award.
Kenneth, Hazel & Kayleigh travelled down (via Kirkwall, Orkney) to Inverness to the awards ceremony in October. The event held in the auspicious Kingsmills Hotel was an absolutely wonderful evening and along with Stella (Kenneth’s sister) and Willie Ross we had a lovely evening and weekend.
H & I Food & Drink spokeswoman, Elaine Jamieson (and also a native Shetlander) noted: “Great to see a strong Shetland contingent at the awards… great to see a Shetland company be highly commended and as I pointed out to Mackenzie’s in the evening, highly commended is not second, there is no second place.
Highly commended is awarded in categories, quite sparingly, where it was either difficult to choose a winner, because there was so little in it, or where there was a clear winner but there was something incredibly special about another entry – so they should be extremely proud of what they did.
It’s a bold move to enter in the first place and it’s great they were along there on the night to pick up their certificate.”
“Well done for taking the first brave step of entering and huge congratulations on being shortlisted and highly commended – your shining up there with the best from the Highlands and Islands!” We particularly loved this comment as Clan Mackenzie’s Moto is Luceo Non Uro which means ‘I shine, not burn’ – Fantastic!!
